WHAT IS OBEDIENCE?
Obedience; to follow a command. With owning dogs, obedience is different to everyone. It can mean sit, sit now, it can mean showing your dog in competition or it can mean being able to take your dog anywhere, to name a few in the dog world.
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
In my experience families want dogs that will listen to the command they are given and respond appropriately. Sit, down, come, and off are the most common. With obedience comes manners and the dog truly starts to know what is expected of them in a human world.
EDUCATION
Teach a Marker so the dog understands that it has done what you have asked.
Teach a Release cue so the dog knows when it can stop performing the task.
Have the dog engage in activities to learn what you expect of him/her
