Come/Recall
Teaching your dog to come back to you is the most important command you can ever teach your dog. There are many ways of introducing it to your puppy/dog.
I find the best way would be with their food.
A few times a day for 2-4 minutes use their food to entice them to return to you.
One way to achieve this is to throw a piece of food/kibble away from you and after they've found it, see if they will turn to you, looking for more. To help them out at first, pat your pant leg to entice them to return. Words are not necessary at this point. As soon as they return to you, throw some more kibble. Repeat this often in the session.
Once the puppy/dog has perfected returning to you without assistance that's when you can put a name it. Some people will use the puppy/dog's name and others use the word come. I've even heard people use different languages so their dogs understand them in a crowd.
This may not occur until after a few sessions or it may occur in the first session. It all depends on how hungry your dog is and how willing to learn they are.
The come/recall command may someday save your dogs life. Please practice it. However you choose to name this command make sure you and your dog remember it when you need it most.
