Place
A place is a dedicated plush bed, cushion or a raised 4 legged flat bed. It could even be an old pillow or couch cushion. It is always theirs and travels with them.
Wherever you allow your dogs there should be somewhere for them to have a dedicated place to lay down. Teaching your dogs to lay down in every room of your house and different areas outside is important for them to generalize the command. In the house having a light weight place to lay is good, it means it can easily be moved from room to room.
Some dogs and puppies don't really do well wandering around the house. Their curiosity can definitely get them into a lot of trouble. There are socks to be eaten, wires to be chewed and furniture to be gnawed on. If they don't get themselves in trouble but they choose to jump up on to furniture or people beds to lay down they can become problematic with their behaviour.
When dogs don't receive direction, that's when the trouble begins.
If you are having difficulty with your dog or puppy getting into trouble while you are busy, teaching them to lay on a place in the room you are in can be a life saver.
